  President Bola Tinubu has made his first set of appointments as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In the appointments, he named Ambassador Kunle Adeleke as the State Chief of Protocol (SCOP) to the President. He also appointed former Lagos State Commissioner of Information, Dele Alake as Presidential Spokesman and Olusegun Dada Special Adviser, Digital Media.

Fuel Subsidy Won't Be Implemented Immediately, President Tinubu Responds To Criticism

e   President   Bola  Tinubu   has said that what he said about getting rid of fuel subsidies during his inauguration speech on Monday won't take place immediately. In a statement made by the  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed  Media Centre, Tinubu said that  Nigerians  shouldn't buy things in a rush like they did after he spoke. durable Reporters said that crowds for petrol appeared right away. When Tinubu spoke, petrol prices in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and other big cities had risen to as high as N350 per litre. Several interest and social groups have asked Tinubu not to start his presidency in a harsh way for Nigerians. Instead, they say he should be careful about getting rid of the fuel subsidy. Today's Headlines: Senate Presidency: Orji Kalu Refuses To Step Down For Akpabio.

  The Chief Whip of the senate, Orji Uzor Kalu, has confirmed his alliance with Zamfara State former governor,  Abdulaziz Yari  and his team towards his race for the post of Nigerian Senate Presidency. Kalu who mentioned this on Tuesday in  Abuja  also declared that he would not step down for anybody for the race of Nigerian Senate Presidency. The chief whip said the outcome of their meetings would be unveiled soon. “I won’t step down for anybody. We are talking with (former governor) Yari. Our group and his group are talking, intimate talk and partnership. We will make sure that no one zone can produce the senate presidency,” he said, according to TheCable. “Like I used to tell people, no one zone can produce the president of Nigeria. What we are trying to do with Senator Yari is a united partnership that will work for Nigeria. In the coming days or weeks, that partnership will be unveiled, so we are in serious talks," he said.

  In a knee-jerk reaction to the confirmation of fuel subsidies removal by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, marketers and operators have increased petrol pump price to N210-N500 per litre. In his inaugural speech on Monday, the President said since the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, did not budget for fuel subsidies in the second half of the year, the payment is gone for good. A check by DAILY POST on Monday evening around the Nation’s capital showed that long queues are back as residents buy fuel for 210/per litre against N195/per litre. However, some filling stations in Kubwa expressway, Lugbe still sell fuel at N195/per litre. EFCC Moves To Arrest, Prosecute Ortom After Handover- Sources

  The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has concluded plans to arrest and intimidate the immediate former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. Sources told durable films on Monday that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state is behind it. According to the sources within the APC fold, the leader of the party in the state, Senator George Akume is part of the plot against Ortom. Ortom leaves office today, May 29, as his successor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, takes over.

President Tinubu Mourns AIT Founder, Dokpesi – saying, Media Cannot Be Complete With His Works.

  Nigerian President, Bola   Tinubu , has mourned the loss of Raymond Dokpesi, founder of DAAR Communications and African Independent Television (AIT), saying he would be missed so much. Dokpesi died on Monday at an unknown Abuja hospital.  Tinubu's condolence message was included in a statement made by his media officer, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, in Abuja. The president lamented the media mogul's death as a major loss to Nigeria's media business and the country.

  The federal government through the Civil Defense, Correctional,  Fire and Immigration Services Board  has appointed Deputy Comptroller General of Immigration, Adepoju Carol Wura-Ola as the acting Comptroller General of Immigration. A letter dated May 26, 2023, signed by the Secretary of the board, Ja’afaru Ahmed, a copy obtained by  Daily Trust  on Monday in Abuja, said the appointment takes effect from Tuesday 30th May 2023. The statement reads: “I write to convey the approval of the Chairman of the Board for you to cover duties of the Office of the Comptroller General,  Nigeria Immigration Service  (NIS) as the most senior Deputy Comptroller General (DCG).

"I Was Not Paid A Dime To Perform At Alex Otti's Inauguration" - Nigerian Singer Davido

  Nigerian  Afrobeats  sensation  David Adeleke  popularly known as  Davido  has recently disclosed that he was not paid a dime to perform at the inauguration of the new Governor of Abia State Chief  Alex  Otti. Alex Otti who defeated Okezie Ikpeazu in the elections which held on march was sworn in today as the new Governor of Abia State. Many were in attendance from top officials to celebrities including Davido who performed at the event. However Davido revealed that he rejected money offered to him to perform at the event citing his bond to Dr Otti as reason. According to Davido, he has known the Governor all his life Davido further stated that he believes the new Governor will do better for Abia State. In his words; "Not a dime, I have known Excellency all my life and I am sure he will do well for the people of Abia State".

  Ahuman rights lawyer and foremost civil society activist, Dr. Monday Ubani, has said nobody can stop Abia State Governor-elect Dr. Alex Otti from being sworn on May 29. He said it is only God that can stop Otti from assuming the mandate “generously and genuinely given to him by the people of Abia State on March 18.” Ubani, a former chairman of the Ikeja branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), said Otti’s victory had brought what he described as the 24 years hegemony of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State to a glorious end.   Valencia have had their partial stadium closure reduced to three matches and their fine cut to €27,000 (£23,500) following an appeal for the racist abuse of Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior by fans. The Spanish Football Federation appeals committee said that it had decided to "partially uphold" Valencia's appeal. It means the partial closure of the Mestalla Stadium has come down from five matches, with an initial €45,000 (£39,000) punishment reduced by €18,000. Vinicius threatened to leave the pitch in the second half of Real Madrid's LaLiga match against Valencia on Sunday after being subjected to alleged racist chants from the crowd and Madrid, who said the abuse constituted a "hate crime", filed a complaint with the Spanish State Attorney General's Office.
